The federal government has allocated around 1.851 billion rupees for sports infrastructure development projects under the Inter Provincial Coordination Division in the Public Sector Development Programme 2026-27, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to upgrading sports facilities across the country.
According to the PSDP documents, a total of 13 ongoing schemes with a cumulative approved cost of 9.508 billion rupees have been included in the current year’s development portfolio, with an estimated expenditure of 4.356 billion rupees recorded up to June 30, 2026, and a throw-forward of 5.151 billion rupees carried forward to July 1, 2026.
Among the major projects receiving allocations is the establishment of the Arshad Nadeem and Shehbaz Sharif High Performance Sports Academy at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, for which 250 million rupees have been earmarked.
The project, approved under the CDWP on January 27, 2025, carries a total cost of 895.087 million rupees.
Significant allocations have also been made for the provision of missing facilities for the South Asian Games at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, including a warm-up track, heat exchanger, residential flats for coaches, multipurpose halls, fencing, a five-a-side hockey ground, futsal grounds and master planning, for which 134.832 million rupees have been allocated against a total project cost of 769.391 million rupees.
The construction of a PSB Coaching Centre at Skardu has received an allocation of 150 million rupees, while the replacement and laying of synthetic hockey turfs in seven cities including Islamabad, Faisalabad, Wah Cantt, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad and Swat has been allocated 120 million rupees under the current year’s programme.
Other notable allocations include 271.200 million rupees for the provision and installation of electronic displays and scoring systems at Pakistan Sports Complex and PSB Coaching Centres, 158.371 million rupees for air-conditioning of Liaquat Gymnasium at Pakistan Sports Complex, and 150 million rupees for laying of a synthetic athletic track, football ground, sprinkling system and flood lights at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi.
The construction of a multipurpose sports complex with two paddle courts at Faisalabad has been allocated 144.512 million rupees, while rehabilitation and upgradation of existing facilities at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi, has received 196.587 million rupees. The construction of a players hostel at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi, has been allocated 26.415 million rupees.
Funds have also been set aside for the rehabilitation and upgradation of existing facilities at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, for preparation and holding of the South Asian Games 2021-22, with 88.226 million rupees allocated, while rehabilitation of roads, footpaths, main gate, security systems and landscaping at PSC Islamabad has received 90.569 million rupees.
The establishment of a Bio Mechanical Lab at Pakistan Sports Complex has been allocated 70.488 million rupees.
The PSDP allocations reflect the government’s focus on modernising sports infrastructure, enhancing training facilities for elite athletes and expanding coaching capacity at both federal and provincial levels ahead of major international sporting events.
