Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited the Pakistan Peoples Party to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan after PML-N decided to sit in opposition. He said the PPP has emerged as the majority party in the assembly. The decision reflects a political understanding between the two coalition partners.
The prime minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will support PPP in forming the government in Gilgit-Baltistan. He confirmed that PML-N lawmakers will vote in favor of the PPP. According to him, the move was made in line with democratic traditions and mutual respect among allies.
He further stated that the PML-N has decided to take the opposition benches in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. He emphasized that the party has always maintained respect and cooperation with allied parties. The decision, he added, prioritizes democratic values over political competition.
Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the announcement and thanked the prime minister. He said the recognition of PPP’s majority in Gilgit-Baltistan reflects democratic continuity. He also appreciated the invitation to form the government in the region.
Bilawal further said that under the understanding, key positions including the governor and deputy speaker would go to PML-N. He added that PPP will fully utilize its abilities to serve the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and address public issues.
