Iran reveals 14-point US draft agreement details

Published on: June 12, 2026 7:09 PM

Iranian media has published details of a 14-point draft memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. The reported draft highlights major differences with earlier accounts, particularly on sanctions relief, frozen assets, and reconstruction commitments. The disclosure comes amid ongoing uncertainty over a potential US-Iran agreement. It also reflects competing narratives over the scope of a possible deal.

According to Iranian outlet Mehr, the draft includes 14 points and remains subject to final approval by Iranian authorities. While both sides reportedly agree on core objectives, implementation terms differ significantly. Moreover, the draft suggests a stricter framework for ceasefire arrangements. Therefore, negotiations remain unresolved on key issues.

One major divergence concerns sanctions relief and frozen assets. The Iranian draft calls for broad suspension and eventual lifting of US and related sanctions. In addition, it proposes the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds during negotiations. However, earlier reports suggested more limited access tied to compliance conditions.

The draft also differs on the Strait of Hormuz and reconstruction commitments. It proposes reopening the strait within 30 days under coordination with Iran. Furthermore, it demands up to $300 billion in reconstruction support from the US and allies. It also excludes discussions on Iran’s missile program and regional alliances.

Meanwhile, broader tensions continue as military activity and diplomatic statements intensify. US and Iranian officials have issued conflicting accounts of progress in talks. Consequently, uncertainty remains over whether a final agreement can be reached soon. The draft is still awaiting official approval before any potential adoption.
