Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi, Azad Khan, on Thursday, chaired an important meeting at the Karachi Police Office to review security arrangements and measures aimed at maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by zonal DIGPs, the DIGP Traffic, district SSPs, religious scholars, organisers of processions and religious gatherings, and other officials, according to a spokesperson for Karachi Police. Participants conducted a detailed review of security measures, traffic management plans and other arrangements related to Muharram observances. The religious scholars and organisers appreciated the security and traffic arrangements made in previous years, as well as the cooperation extended by the police. They also presented a number of recommendations for further improvement, which were carefully considered by the Karachi police chief. The participants highlighted issues relating to entry points, procession permits, road repairs, encroachments, traffic flow and power outages. Azad Khan instructed officials to ensure that no-objection certificates (NOCs) and permits for processions and religious gatherings were implemented effectively, while comprehensive security arrangements should be put in place in accordance with the security plan.
