
The Pre-Shandur Polo Tournament 2026 concluded with an exciting final in Chitral, where Chitral Scouts A defeated District Administration Chitral Levies A by 4-1 to claim the championship title.

The final match drew thousands of polo enthusiasts and showcased high-quality competition between the two sides. Chitral Scouts A displayed impressive teamwork and attacking play throughout the contest, securing a convincing victory and lifting the prestigious trophy.
At the closing ceremony, Subedar Major Israr Wali Khan of Chitral Scouts A was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances. Havaldar Asif Hussain earned the Player of the Match award for his decisive contribution in the final. The Best Horse award was presented to the horse of District Administration Chitral Levies A captain Izhar Ali Khan.
The event’s chief guest, Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Arsalan, distributed trophies, certificates and prizes among the winning players. He also announced a cash prize of Rs200,000 for the champions and Rs100,000 for the runners-up in recognition of their performances.
The tournament attracted spectators from across Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, other parts of Pakistan and overseas. Organisers estimated that around 30,000 people attended the final, creating a vibrant atmosphere and enthusiastically supporting the players throughout the match.
Officials and local leaders highlighted the cultural significance of polo in Chitral, describing it as more than just a sport. They said polo remains an important part of the region’s heritage, traditions and identity, with local communities continuing to invest in the training and care of horses despite economic challenges.
Adding to the festivities, a colourful paragliding display was organised at the historic polo ground before the final. Skilled paragliders performed aerial manoeuvres above the venue, entertaining spectators and enhancing the tournament’s celebratory atmosphere.

Participants and visitors praised the successful organisation of the event, noting that it helped promote both sports and tourism in the region while showcasing Chitral’s natural beauty and cultural traditions.
