Court extends 10-day remand of foreign suspects in investment fraud case

Published on: May 26, 2026 7:53 AM

The District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Monday extended the physical remand of four foreign nationals accused in a major online investment fraud linked to the “Gold Box” and “GLBX” mobile applications, which allegedly collected millions of rupees from citizens through fake investment schemes.

The suspects were presented before Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah after completion of their earlier seven-day physical remand. The accused included three foreign men and one woman.

During the hearing, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency requested the court to grant an additional 20-day physical remand to continue investigation into the alleged fraud network and financial transactions connected with the case.

After hearing arguments, the court approved a further 10-day physical remand of the accused and handed them back to investigators for questioning.

According to officials, the case relates to allegations that the “Gold Box” and “GLBX” applications were used to attract people through online investment offers and later collect large amounts of money from users. Authorities believe the operation may involve a wider network connected to digital financial fraud.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has already registered a case against the suspects and is continuing investigation into the alleged scam, including the movement of funds and the role of other individuals who may be linked to the operation. Officials said more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses during the extended remand period.
