Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Chinese Premier Li Qiang

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held an informal meeting with Li Qiang during a reception ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The interaction took place during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to China. The meeting reflected continued high-level coordination between Pakistan and China on strategic and economic cooperation.

During the ceremony, Premier Li warmly welcomed Field Marshal Asim Munir and exchanged views with him on bilateral relations. Officials described the interaction as part of broader engagements between the Pakistani delegation and Chinese leadership. The visit comes as both countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.

Field Marshal Asim Munir is accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the Beijing visit, which includes meetings focused on economic development, regional security, and technology cooperation. Pakistani and Chinese officials also discussed accelerating projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework.

Earlier on Monday, Shehbaz Sharif and Premier Li witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding and bilateral agreements. The documents aim to strengthen cooperation in trade, infrastructure, security, and emerging technologies. Pakistani officials described the agreements as an important step toward deeper strategic collaboration.

Prime Minister Sharif thanked the Chinese leadership for its warm reception and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its long-standing partnership with China. He said the “iron friendship” between the two countries remains central to Islamabad’s foreign policy and shared development goals.
