Drake equals Taylor Swift’s historic Billboard chart record

Published on: May 25, 2026 3:34 PM

Drake has reached another major career milestone after tying Taylor Swift as the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums in Billboard 200 history. The Canadian superstar secured his 15th chart-topping album with ICEMAN, matching Swift’s long-standing record and moving ahead of Jay-Z, who previously held 14 No. 1 albums. However, the achievement immediately sparked heated debate across social media platforms.

Soon after the chart results became public, Swift fans flooded X with criticism aimed at Drake’s rapid release strategy. Several users argued that the rapper focuses more on frequent album drops than building long-lasting musical impact. One fan questioned whether releasing multiple projects close together made chart success easier, while others claimed his approach prioritised numbers instead of artistic legacy. As a result, online discussions quickly turned the achievement into a rivalry between two of music’s biggest global stars.

Meanwhile, many Swift supporters defended the lasting success of the singer’s catalogue by comparing her album sales and touring power. Some fans argued that Taylor’s older records continue generating strong commercial demand years after release, especially following the massive success of the Eras Tour. Others insisted that chart dominance alone does not define an artist’s cultural influence, adding that longevity and fan connection remain equally important in measuring musical legacy.

At the same time, Drake’s supporters celebrated the rapper’s ability to dominate charts consistently for more than a decade. His latest success became even bigger after ICEMAN arrived alongside two surprise companion projects titled HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR. The releases helped Drake secure the top three positions simultaneously on the Billboard 200, further strengthening his reputation as one of the music industry’s most commercially successful artists.

In addition, several Taylor Swift fans used the moment to urge the pop icon to release new music and reclaim the record outright. Social media posts demanding “TS13” quickly gained traction, with many supporters expressing confidence that another Taylor album would immediately return her to the top position. The intense reaction once again highlighted the strong competition between modern music fandoms, where chart achievements often become major online events.

Notably, both Drake and Taylor Swift now rank second among artists with the most Billboard 200 No. 1 albums, trailing only The Beatles, who still hold the all-time record with 19 chart-topping albums. Their latest milestone further confirms the extraordinary commercial influence both artists continue holding over the global music industry, while fans eagerly wait to see who will eventually claim the historic lead alone.
