Published on: May 24, 2026 1:08 AM

Iran visit

Key progress during the Iran visit emerged as Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir concluded a brief but highly significant official trip to Iran. According to the ISPR, intensive discussions held over the past 24 hours led to encouraging progress toward a final reconciliation. Officials described the development as an important step toward reducing tensions and promoting stability in the region.

The ISPR stated that upon arrival in Tehran, the Field Marshal was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civilian and military officials. He later held a series of high-level meetings focused on regional security, de-escalation efforts, and ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at supporting peace and dialogue.

During the visit, the Field Marshal met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also held separate meetings with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views on regional developments and stability.

According to the ISPR, the meetings took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Furthermore, the discussions played an important role in advancing ongoing mediation efforts. Officials noted that the extensive dialogue over the last 24 hours helped move the parties closer to a mutually acceptable understanding.

The military’s media wing said the purpose of the meetings was to help ease tensions that emerged after the April 8 ceasefire and to strengthen constructive engagement among regional stakeholders. Therefore, participants explored various diplomatic avenues to support long-term peace, cooperation, and stability.

In conclusion, the ISPR said the Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and constructive role in promoting peaceful solutions to regional issues. Iranian officials also praised Pakistan’s efforts to encourage dialogue and diplomacy. As a result, the key progress during the Iran visit has strengthened hopes for final reconciliation and lasting peace across the region.
