Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha has emerged as a strong candidate for leading the national Test team as well. According to sources, a decision has been made to change the Test captaincy following Pakistan’s consecutive series defeats against Bangladesh.
Sources say Salman Ali Agha is now the leading contender for the role and is likely to captain Pakistan in the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin in July.
Meanwhile, reports suggest growing distance between current Test captain Shan Masood and some players after the defeat in the Sylhet Test against Bangladesh. During the return journey, communication among players was reportedly minimal, with Shan Masood spending time with his family.

It is also noted that under Shan Masood’s leadership, Pakistan has played 16 Test matches, winning only 4 while losing 12. The poor results have reportedly played a key role in discussions about a leadership change in the Test format.
In conclusion, Salman Ali Agha’s rise as a potential Test captain signals a possible major shift in Pakistan cricket leadership, as the team looks to improve its red-ball performance after a series of disappointing results.
