Weather department alerts rain and thunderstorms across country

Published on: May 3, 2026 3:38 PM

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast warning of rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms in several regions of Pakistan over the coming days. Authorities said changing weather patterns may bring strong winds and heavy rainfall to multiple areas, requiring precautionary measures from the public.

According to the alert issued by the National Disaster Management Authority, several parts of the country are likely to experience intense weather activity, including gusty winds and isolated hailstorms. Officials have advised residents in vulnerable regions to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.

In Punjab, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunder and strong winds is expected across major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Sahiwal. Meteorologists also warned that some districts may face short but intense storm activity during this weather system.

Meanwhile, northern regions including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also forecast to receive significant rainfall with thunderstorms. Areas such as Skardu, Hunza, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and surrounding districts are likely to experience changing weather conditions with intermittent heavy showers.

Similarly, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Abbottabad, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Malam Jabba, and Dir are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Officials noted that hilly areas may also face temporary disruptions due to strong winds and reduced visibility.

Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert and follow safety guidelines during the expected weather system. They emphasized that precautionary steps can help reduce risks associated with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across affected regions.
