The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect in Faisalabad in connection with an alleged social media harassment case, while investigations into the possible involvement of other individuals are ongoing.
According to Director NCCIA Punjab, Muhammad Ali Waseem, the complaint was filed by a woman who stated that private images of her daughter were shared on social media through a fake account. The complaint further alleged that the images were accompanied by inappropriate content, causing social harm to the victim. He added that the victim’s family also received alleged threats via WhatsApp. During the inquiry, statements of the complainant and the victim were recorded, and digital evidence was taken into custody.
Investigating Officer Aamir Sultan said that acting on a tip-off, a suspect was arrested from Sargodha district. Initial investigation of the recovered mobile phone has revealed links to several social media accounts.
Officials said that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine the role of other possible suspects.
