Pakistan has called for the immediate restoration of normal shipping flow through the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing its critical importance for global energy supply and international trade stability. The Foreign Office stated that uninterrupted movement through the waterway is essential for maintaining economic balance and preventing further disruption in global markets. Officials also stressed that ongoing tensions in the region are increasing risks for energy security worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed that Pakistan is actively engaging with both the United States and Iran to support de-escalation and sustain ceasefire efforts. He said diplomatic discussions remain ongoing and constructive, aimed at reducing tensions and avoiding further conflict. According to him, recent understandings have already helped limit escalation and prevent additional civilian harm in the region.

Furthermore, Andrabi highlighted that Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior officials, continues to play a proactive role in regional diplomacy. He noted that high-level contacts with regional leaders and international partners have focused on promoting dialogue and stability. These efforts include consultations with countries such as Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, aimed at strengthening cooperation and peace-building initiatives.
In addition, Pakistan has expressed concern over the continued closure of the Strait, warning that prolonged disruption could impact global oil and gas flows, affecting nearly 20 percent of international supply routes. The spokesperson stressed that restoring maritime traffic is necessary to avoid further economic shocks and rising energy prices. He added that diplomatic engagement remains the preferred path to resolving the crisis.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office also provided updates on overseas Pakistanis, confirming efforts to secure the release of crew members held after a vessel incident near the Somali coast. Officials said they are in contact with regional authorities to ensure safe recovery and return. Additionally, several Pakistani nationals detained in countries such as Cambodia and Uganda are being processed for repatriation under consular arrangements.
At the same time, the spokesperson condemned recent cross-border incidents along Pakistan’s frontier areas, including firing and shelling that injured civilians and damaged property. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that its territory must be protected from external aggression and reiterated calls for restraint. Consequently, officials emphasized continued diplomatic and security measures to safeguard civilians and maintain regional stability.
