Five injured as Afghan shelling targets civilians in S Waziristan

Published on: April 30, 2026 10:19 AM

Shelling from Afghanistan once again targets Pakistani civilian populations in border areas adjacent to Angoor Adda, South Waziristan. A mortar shell fired from the Afghan side struck the house of local residents Karim Khan and Rehmatullah.

As a result of the mortar explosion, five individuals, including four children and one woman, were injured. The injured children are aged 13, 10, 8, and 3 years old.

All the injured have been shifted to DHQ Hospital Wana.

The local residents have expressed deep grief and sorrow over this action from the Afghan side. It is worth noting that just a few days ago, three people were injured in the same area due to unprovoked firing from Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Armed Forces have destroyed several Afghan Taliban posts and vehicles in Balochistan’s Chaman sector, security sources said on Wednesday.

The operations, part of the ongoing ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’, were a response to the “unprovoked aggression” by Afghan Taliban forces and terrorists on the Pak-Afghan border, according to the sources.

Security sources said that the army destroyed several Afghan Taliban posts and vehicles in Chaman “with precision”. “The Pakistan Army’s effective operations have forced the Afghan Taliban and the Fitna al Khawarij to retreat”.

“Security forces’ unwavering resolve to defend the homeland is ensuring the country’s territorial integrity,” sources added. The sources also stated that the operations will continue until “all set targets are achieved”.

Security forces also destroyed multiple Afghan Taliban posts in the Chaman sector on Tuesday, according to security sources.

On Sunday, the forces destroyed the gun positions of Afghan Taliban involved in unprovoked firing at civilians in South Waziristan. Security sources said that the posts were destroyed after the Afghan Taliban fired at civilians and left three people, including two women, injured.

Terrorist killed as attack on Bannu police post foiled

Police successfully foiled a terrorist attack on Mazangah checkpost in Bannu after a timely and effective response by police personnel, resulting in the killing of one terrorist and injuries to at least five others, officials said on Wednesday.

According to official release issued, the attack took place at around 1:20 a.m. when a large number of heavily armed terrorists launched an assault on the checkpost.

The alert and brave police personnel deployed at the post responded immediately with a well-organized and courageous counter-operation, thwarting the attackers’ attempt and forcing them to retreat.

During a subsequent search operation in the area, police recovered one dead body of a terrorist from the scene, while blood traces were found at multiple locations, indicating that several attackers were injured.

Police said the terrorists managed to flee under the cover of darkness while taking their dead and injured companions with them.

During the operation, Constable Fareedullah sustained minor injuries while fighting bravely and was immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
