Pakistan rises in IT talent index

Published on: April 25, 2026 8:49 PM

Pakistan has been ranked 16th globally in the 2026 Global Outsourcing Talent Index, marking a strong position among leading digital economies. The development is significant as it highlights Pakistan’s growing role in the global IT and outsourcing industry. It also reflects rising investor interest in the country’s expanding digital workforce.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the ranking places Pakistan within the top nine percent of 193 countries assessed in the index. She noted that Pakistan has outperformed several advanced economies, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. The country is also ranked ahead of multiple emerging tech hubs such as Vietnam and China in certain categories.

The minister said Pakistan’s IT sector is growing at an average rate of around 20 percent annually. She added that improvements in digital infrastructure could push Pakistan’s ranking up to 11th globally. Planned upgrades include fibre expansion, submarine cables, and enhanced regional connectivity with China and Central Asia.
