Kuwait has announced the reopening of its airspace and the gradual resumption of operations at Kuwait International Airport following disruptions caused by the Iran war, according to official sources.

The Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that airspace operations, which had been suspended due to regional security concerns, are now being restored after necessary safety and infrastructure assessments. The move marks the first major step toward normalising air traffic in the country since the escalation of hostilities in the region.

Officials stated that certain aviation facilities had sustained damage during the conflict, making the temporary suspension of flights unavoidable. Repair and safety restoration work has since been completed, allowing authorities to resume limited operations.

Director of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced Thursday the reopening of airspace at Kuwait International Airport starting Thursday evening.

The reopening is expected to significantly ease travel for passengers and gradually restore international flight schedules. Authorities added that airlines will be notified in phases as full operational capacity is reinstated at the airport.

Kuwaiti officials expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its support during the suspension period, particularly for providing alternative arrangements for diverted and affected flights. They said regional cooperation played an important role in maintaining continuity of air travel services during the crisis.

While the airspace has reopened, aviation authorities emphasized that strict safety protocols will remain in place as operations return to normal. Further assessments will continue to ensure that all systems are fully secure and functional before complete restoration of services.

Kuwait International Airport had remained closed since February 28 amid escalating tensions linked to the regional conflict. The phased reopening is seen as a positive sign of stabilisation in the Gulf aviation network, which had been heavily impacted by the crisis.
