Warner, Khushdil power Karachi Kings to thrilling win over Lahore

In a high-stakes encounter of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Lahore’s Lahore Qalandars home ground, the Karachi Kings kept their playoff hopes alive with a dramatic five-wicket victory, thanks to a match-winning blitz by Khushdil Shah.

Chasing a challenging target of 200, Karachi looked in trouble at 153 for five, with the required rate climbing steeply and the pressure mounting. The situation shifted decisively when Khushdil Shah walked in and launched a stunning counterattack that turned the match on its head.

With 47 runs needed from 24 balls, Khushdil unleashed a fearless assault on Lahore’s bowling attack. He targeted both pace and spin, smashing boundaries and sixes with clean timing. His most damaging over came against Shaheen Shah Afridi, where he struck three towering sixes and a four, effectively dismantling Lahore’s late control of the game.

Karachi captain David Warner anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century, ensuring stability at one end while Khushdil provided the explosive finishing touch. Moeen Ali also contributed a crucial cameo earlier, helping revive the chase after early setbacks.

Lahore Qalandars had earlier posted a competitive 199, built on strong batting performances from Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique, who stitched together a solid partnership at the top. However, their momentum faded in the middle and death overs as Karachi’s bowlers applied pressure and fielding errors proved costly.

Despite a late push from Lahore’s lower order, Karachi’s disciplined chase and Khushdil’s finishing heroics ensured they crossed the line with eight balls to spare.

The result keeps Karachi Kings firmly in the playoff race, while Lahore Qalandars will regret missed opportunities and dropped chances that shifted the outcome of the match.
