According to officials, 72 manufacturing certificates have been issued for electric motorcycles and rickshaws, along with four for electric vehicles. Additionally, 123 applications have been received for setting up EV charging stations. These developments indicate growing private sector interest in the sector.
A plan is also being developed to shift 30 percent of vehicles to electric power within five years. Authorities estimate this could save up to 4.5 billion dollars in fuel costs. The government also plans to provide electric bikes to Grade 16 employees on easy instalments.
