Pakistan to observe Thanksgiving after Iran-US ceasefire

Islamabad: The government has decided to observe a day of thanksgiving next Friday to mark the US-Iran ceasefire. The announcement came following a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The session briefed members on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that contributed to the successful ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s mediation role and detailed the steps taken to facilitate dialogue between the two countries. Cabinet members were informed about the coordination, negotiations, and diplomatic measures that helped secure the truce. Officials emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s contribution to regional peace.

Prime Minister Sharif specifically acknowledged the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the mediation process. He praised their leadership and coordination, noting that their efforts were pivotal in bringing both sides to an agreement. The cabinet also expressed gratitude for their contributions.

The decision to celebrate a national day of thanksgiving reflects the government’s recognition of Pakistan’s role in international diplomacy. It aims to honor the leadership, coordination, and sacrifices of officials involved in achieving the ceasefire. The event will be marked across the country next Friday.
