Pakistan Safely Repatriates 183 Students From Iran Crisis

Published on: March 3, 2026 2:08 PM

The Government of Pakistan has continued the safe repatriation of its citizens and students from Iran following recent regional tensions and security concerns. So far, authorities have successfully brought back 183 students through the Taftan border crossing into Quetta with the coordination of the Pakistan Army. Officials confirmed that the evacuation process remains ongoing as more families seek safe return amid uncertainty in affected areas.

According to official figures, 132 of the repatriated students belong to Punjab, while 22 returned to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 15 to Sindh. Additionally, 10 students are from Gilgit-Baltistan, three from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and one from Balochistan. These numbers highlight the nationwide impact of the situation, as families across multiple provinces awaited the safe arrival of their children.

On Monday alone, authorities transported 62 students to Quetta, including 42 men and 20 women, ensuring proper security and logistical arrangements. Later, another group of 121 students arrived, comprising 41 men and 80 women, bringing the total number of returnees to 183. Most of these students were enrolled in medical institutions in Tehran, Isfahan, Zanjan, and Yazd.

Furthermore, security and civil administration teams coordinated transportation, registration, and temporary accommodation for the returning students upon their arrival at the border. Medical assistance and essential services were also made available to ensure their well-being after the cross-border journey. Officials stated that contingency plans remain in place should further evacuations become necessary in the coming days.

The returning students and their families expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army for acting swiftly during a time of crisis. Many described the coordinated effort as timely and reassuring, particularly for parents who had grown increasingly worried about safety conditions abroad. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Pakistani nationals overseas and ensuring their secure return whenever required.
