
Russia has expressed deep concern over the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, warning of risks to regional stability. The escalation involves both countries’ military units, aircraft, and heavy weapons, causing casualties on both sides, including civilians. Moscow called for restraint and urged political and diplomatic solutions to prevent further violence.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the intensity and rapid escalation of the conflict are unusual. She highlighted that the clashes could threaten peace not only in Afghanistan and Pakistan but across the region.

Zakharova emphasised that both nations are “friendly countries” and should avoid actions that further heighten tensions. She urged immediate return to negotiations and resolution of disputes through diplomatic channels. She warned that continued hostilities risk destabilising border areas.
The Russian statement comes amid mounting concerns over security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Reports indicate the use of heavy artillery, airstrikes, and deployment of regular troops, increasing casualties and civilian impact. Moscow reiterated its readiness to support dialogue between the two governments.
