The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved the immediate release of Rs19 billion for the Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package (PMRRP) 2026. The funding aims to provide timely financial support to vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramzan. The package directly affects low-income households and reinforces the government’s commitment to social protection and dignity.
According to the Finance Division, the ECC considered a proposal from the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety seeking Rs25 billion for the Ramzan package. Of this, Rs19 billion had already been budgeted for the current financial year, with remaining funds to be released if required. The committee approved the immediate release to commence disbursement promptly while allowing for future adjustments.

The ECC also granted in-principle approval of Rs1 billion for operational expenses, including payments to partner banks and communication costs. Officials emphasized the need for detailed cost breakdowns to ensure alignment with actual needs and financial regulations. The committee underscored that expenditures must remain consistent with Pakistan’s fiscal commitments, and any unutilized funds will be surrendered per established procedures.
The Ramzan Relief Package 2026 is designed to deliver targeted cash assistance through formal banking and digital channels for secure and efficient disbursement. Beneficiaries are identified using the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER), ensuring transparency and objectivity. The package also complements existing social protection programs, providing additional support to low-income households.
