UMT hosts 7th Khurram Murad Memorial Lecture

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) organized the 7th Khurram Murad Memorial Lecture, featuring a keynote address by internationally renowned scholar Professor Dr. Ziauddin Sardar as the Chief Guest. The lecture provided an insightful and comprehensive discourse on Islamic thought, contemporary intellectual challenges and the complex issues confronting Muslim societies today. President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad attended the event and addressed the gathering.

In his remarks, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad stated that Khurram Murad (RA) was a luminous and influential intellectual figure in the Islamic world who played a pivotal role in promoting serious, purposeful and constructive intellectual dialogue between Islam and the West. Khuram Murad’s mission was to reform Muslim society in the light of Islamic principles.

He emphasized that Khurram Murad (RA) made exceptional contributions toward the principled guidance and character building of youth. He further said that educational institutions must emerge as strong centers of intellectual leadership for Muslim societies, as the challenges facing the Ummah cannot be addressed without meaningful intellectual and academic discourse.

Professor Dr. Ziauddin Sardar described Khurram Murad (RA) as a great thinker and intellectual who deeply felt the pain of humanity, stating that his message remains highly relevant and profoundly guiding in today’s era of intellectual confusion and moral crisis.

Dr. Ziauddin Sardar spoke about post-modernism and post-normal times and where the Muslims stand in them.

He emphasized on how the education system and geopolitical notions are being penetrated, changing every paradigm of how the world operated earlier and how the systems and governances have collapsed, sabotaging even the basic human rights and opinions. He exlressed about the genocide in Gazs as the second Holocaust, despite the notion ‘Never Again’ At the end of the ceremony, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad presented a souvenir to Professor Dr. Ziauddin Sardar as a token of appreciation.
