Expressing seriousness for the Karim Block flyover and underpass project, the Lahore Development Authority sought permission from the Punjab government to start the project in 2026. The LDA has prepared a comprehensive plan for a signal-free corridor from Karim Block to the motorway, the final approval of which will be obtained from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to LDA sources, the PC-1 of the Karim Block signal-free corridor will be sent to the Housing Department next week. A request will also be made to start the project through a supplementary grant, while the Punjab government is considering including the Karim Block underpass project in the new development package. Meanwhile, an estimate of Rs2.8 billion has been estimated for the construction of the Karim Block underpass. Under the project, it has been also proposed to build an underpass on the road from Jinnah Hospital to Karim Block, while traffic will be controlled through an add-grade at Karim Block Chowk.
