Punjab announces holidays on Quaid-e-Azam Day, Boxing Day

Published on: December 23, 2025 2:27 AM

The Punjab government has announced public holidays on December 25 and 26 in observance of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Boxing Day, with the latter designated specifically for the Christian community. Official notifications have been issued by the Punjab government confirming the two holidays. December 25 will be observed as a public holiday across the province to mark the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, while December 26 will be observed as a special holiday for Christians on the occasion of Boxing Day. Earlier, the Government of Sindh had also declared December 25 and December 26, 2023, as public holidays. The announcement was made on December 19 to mark Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. The notification stated that the public holiday on December 25 would apply to all officers, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government, except for departments providing essential services. The Sindh government further announced December 26, 2023, as a public holiday exclusively for Christian employees to observe the day after Christmas.
