
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan strongly condemned the attack on UN peacekeepers in Kadugli, Sudan, where six Bangladeshi personnel were killed. Eight others were injured in the drone strike on the UN base in the contested Abyei region. Pakistan expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the victims’ families and the people of Bangladesh.
The Foreign Office highlighted the role of UN peacekeepers in preventing conflicts, protecting civilians, and promoting global peace. Pakistan paid tribute to the “Blue Helmets” for their sacrifice in maintaining stability in conflict zones.

The FO called for an immediate investigation, urging that those responsible for the attack be identified and brought to justice. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to cooperating with UN Security Council members and the international community to ensure peacekeeper safety.
The attack occurred on December 13 around 10 pm, when attackers struck the UN camp, triggering heavy gunfire. Injured peacekeepers received immediate medical care, and the situation was brought under control with UN coordination.

Officials noted that the security of the Bangladeshi contingent has been reinforced, and the situation in Abyei remains under continuous observation.
