Punjab Police arrest 34 drug dealers in 24 hours

Published on: December 15, 2025 3:40 AM

Under the people-friendly police vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Police’s flagship project, Tahaffuz Manzil Foster Home, has achieved another important success.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, timely protection was provided to a Sindhi family who had fled Nawabshah due to domestic violence and disputes, reuniting them with their relatives. The family, including minor girls, reached Lahore in a vulnerable state, where the Police Protection Center at Data Darbar rescued them and ensured their safety.

The spokesperson added that the women and children were sheltered at Tahaffuz Manzil Foster Home, where the team traced their relatives and arranged counseling between the husband and wife. Through the personal efforts of Director Tahaffuz Manzil, Maida Raza, family discord was resolved, and the women and children were safely returned to their homes.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that Tahaffuz Manzil Foster Home continues to provide protection to women who have run away, missing children, and vulnerable individuals. He emphasized that the facility not only ensures their safety but also empowers them through education and training, enabling them to become responsible and useful members of society.

In line with the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to make the province drug-free, Punjab Police continued a vigorous crackdown on drug dealers across the province.

According to a spokesperson, during the past 24 hours, 34 drug dealers were arrested and 34 cases registered. The operations also led to the recovery of 49 kilograms of charas, 2 kilograms of ice, 7 kilograms of heroin, and 1.5 kilograms of opium.

The spokesperson added that over the past two weeks, Punjab Police have arrested 1,200 drug dealers and registered 1,228 cases. In the same period, 1,807 kilograms of charas, 47 kilograms of ice, 207 kilograms of heroin, and 23 kilograms of opium were recovered. Additionally, 13 drug dealers were neutralized during the operations.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that operations against major drug dealers and smugglers be further intensified. He emphasized that all suspects involved in the drug supply chain should face strict legal action. He also ordered enhanced measures against drug peddling in and around educational institutions and hostels, as well as strict action against online drug trafficking, to safeguard the youth from the menace of narcotics.
