
Russia has suspended all international mail services with Pakistan after Pakistan Post failed to clear Rs 55 million in outstanding dues, disrupting postal exchange between the two countries.
Federal Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan informed the National Assembly that Russian Post formally notified Pakistan of the suspension in August 2025 due to unpaid bills dating back to 2021.

The minister added that Pakistan Post faces financial challenges beyond Russia, with total international liabilities exceeding Rs 310 million as of November 2021, reflecting years of operational strain and institutional deficits.
Abdul Aleem Khan said Pakistan Post plans to settle the Russian dues once the Finance Division releases the required funds, after which the department will request Russia to lift the suspension.

The ban has affected individuals, businesses, and academic institutions that depend on reliable international mail services, causing delays in correspondence and hindering communication between Pakistan and Russia.
Officials emphasized that resolving the issue promptly is crucial to restoring trust in Pakistan Post’s international operations and ensuring uninterrupted mail delivery for all stakeholders.
