Not a burden, but blessing: CM Maryam honours special persons

Published on: December 4, 2025 1:44 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her special message on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that Persons of determination are our heroes and will always remain so. She said that these individuals are not a burden but the pride of Punjab, a blessing and our honour. She said that in Punjab, persons with disabilities are now claiming their rights with dignity rather than seeking sympathy. She added that those who continue to smile despite life’s hardships are the true brave ones and the real victors. She emphasized that it is the responsibility of every state to give persons with special needs not a sense of deprivation, but a sense of ownership. She highlighted that through ‘Himmat’Card, thousands of persons of determination are being empowered, not merely supported financially.

Chief Minister Punjab vowed, “Bringing persons of determination to the centre of social mainstream is our mission and ensuring them a dignified life is our foremost duty.” She noted that in Punjab, special persons can travel free of cost on electric buses, with dedicated assistants and ramps provided for their accessibility. She highlighted that assistive devices and wheelchairs are being delivered directly to their doorsteps, adding that artificial limbs and medical aid are being provided to improve their quality of life.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of a tragic incident in which a stray dog attacked an infant in Rajanpur. She expressed deep grief over the infant’s death and sought a detailed report of this sorrowful incident from Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur.
