
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he will not end the war on Russian terms. He firmly rejects a U.S. plan that requires major concessions. He warns the proposal risks damaging Ukraine’s crucial partnership with Washington.
Zelensky told the nation he will not “betray” Ukraine. He said he will offer alternatives to the 28-point U.S. plan. He admitted Ukraine is facing one of the most difficult moments in its modern history and is under intense pressure.

The plan alarms Kyiv and Europe because it forces Ukraine to cede territory. It recognises Crimea and eastern regions as Russian and demands troop pullbacks in Donetsk. It also freezes the front lines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia and limits Ukraine’s army while blocking future NATO membership.
Russia reacted confidently and increased pressure on Zelensky. The Kremlin warned he should negotiate now or lose even more territory. Meanwhile, Zelensky held talks with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and plans to speak with President Trump, hoping to defend Ukraine’s position.

European leaders quickly backed Kyiv after emergency calls. Britain, France and Germany reaffirmed full support for a just peace. They criticised Washington for excluding Europe and stressed that Ukraine’s army must remain strong as the war’s stakes continue to rise.
