MOSCOW: Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 33 Ukrainian drones over five regions, Crimea, and the Black Sea overnight. The attacks forced at least eight Russian airports to suspend operations, according to the country’s aviation watchdog.
Two people were injured in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Krasnodar region, prompting suspension of school and kindergarten classes, the local emergencies centre reported. The drones also damaged infrastructure, including an electricity pylon in Rostov region, leaving over 200 homes without power.

Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar said seven drones were downed in his region, causing disruption to local services. Russian authorities described the attacks as part of continued Ukrainian drone strikes targeting southern and western Russia.
The Defence Ministry confirmed that ten naval drones were also destroyed, while ongoing monitoring continues over Crimea and the Black Sea. The incidents highlight the persistent aerial threat posed by drones amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and comply with emergency instructions, while airport and power restoration teams work to resume normal operations. Officials did not report any further casualties overnight.
