The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday transferred a case from the court of Justice Babar Sattar to the court of Justice Azam Khan related to the audio leaks of Najam Saqib and Bushra Bibi.
Now Justice Azam Khan will hear the audio leaks case on November 4. This case is related to the audio leaks of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib and Bushra Bibi.
Petitions were filed in the Islamabad High Court against the audio leaks by the parties. It should be remembered that the Supreme Court has issued a stay order preventing the Islamabad High Court from further action in this case.
Separately, a division bench of Islamabad High Court adjourned hearing on contempt of court plea against accountability court for not deciding NAB jurisdiction in fake accounts case against accused Abdul Jabbar and Najam-uz-Zaman.
A division bench comprising Justice Azam Khan and Justice Muhammad Asif adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court. The court directed the accountability court to provide its report to the petitioner’s lawyer regarding delay in verdict. During the hearing, the accountability court judge submitted a report to the court based on the reasons for the delay in pronouncing the verdict on the jurisdiction of NAB.
The High Court directed that a copy of the report be provided to the petitioner’s lawyer and adjourned the further hearing of the case. During the hearing, Farooq H. Naik’s assistant lawyer Rafay Chaudhry appeared in the court. The court will review the contents of the report at the next hearing and decide on further action.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas recused himself from hearing the interim bail plea of Director Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Siddique Anjum, who was nominated in the social media campaign case against Judge Humayun Dilawar.
The court sent the file to the Chief Justice IHC to transfer the case to another bench. Justice Inaam remarked that he has already given a decision on the petitioner’s request for dismissal of the case, so he cannot hear his other case.
It should be noted that some objections were also raised on the application by the Registrar’s Office. The Sessions Court has already rejected the interim bail of Siddique Anjum, after which he has approached the Islamabad High Court.
