The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder seeking to consolidate all cases registered against him across Punjab, after no counsel appeared on his behalf. The single bench comprising LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed by the PTI founder. During the proceedings, the court inquired from the Punjab government’s counsel about the number of cases lodged against the petitioner. The counsel informed the court that a total of 107 cases had been registered against the petitioner. As the PTI founder’s legal representative once again failed to appear, the court dismissed the plea on grounds of non-prosecution. It may be recalled that the petition was originally filed in 2023, wherein the PTI founder had requested the court to merge all cases filed in different cities of Punjab into a single proceeding for convenience.
