Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and offered to help ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The meeting, held in Tehran, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and improving regional security. Naqvi briefed the Iranian president on the situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting the need for stability and collaboration.
President Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s role as a brotherly partner and expressed willingness to mediate between the two neighboring countries. He also highlighted the importance of preventing conflicts and maintaining peace in the region. Naqvi thanked the Iranian president and conveyed good wishes on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underlining that Pakistan and Iran share common goals for regional stability.

During the talks, both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in internal security, counterterrorism, border management, and anti-narcotics operations. They agreed on increasing mutual communication channels to ensure smooth collaboration and faster responses to security challenges. The discussions reflected a strong commitment from both sides to strengthen ties and foster trust in sensitive security matters.
Earlier, Naqvi also met with Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Ardeshir Larijani and Iranian Interior Minister Sikandar Momeni. These meetings focused on expanding Pakistan-Iran security cooperation, sharing experiences, and boosting bilateral coordination on counterterrorism and border management efforts. Naqvi invited Momeni to visit Pakistan to further enhance collaboration.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with recent positive developments in bilateral relations. Naqvi noted that disagreements between countries, like those in families, can be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. Iranian officials appreciated Pakistan’s efforts at the ECO ministerial conference and promised continued support for cooperation in security and regional peace initiatives.
