PARIS: Renowned Pakistani folk and Sufi singer Sanam Marvi mesmerized a packed audience at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris on Sunday with her captivating live performance that celebrated Pakistan’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
The concert, jointly organised by the Embassy of Pakistan and Théâtre de la Ville, offered Parisians a rare glimpse into the depth of Pakistani Sufi and folk music. Marvi, known for her powerful voice and heartfelt delivery, enthralled the crowd with a soulful selection of traditional and spiritual melodies.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to France, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, lauded Sanam Marvi and her team for the enthralling show and thanked the theatre management, led by Soudabeh Kia, Conseillère Musique du Monde, for their commitment to promoting world music. She recalled that legendary qawwal Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had also performed at the same venue, underscoring the long-standing cultural connection between Pakistan and France.

Ambassador Baloch highlighted that cultural diplomacy continues to serve as a bridge between nations, fostering mutual understanding through art and music. She expressed joy over the sold-out event and voiced optimism for further collaborations in performing arts between the two countries.
Sanam Marvi, reflecting on the evening, said, “Music is the spice of life, and we love our traditional music.” She expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the diverse audience. Born in Sindh, Marvi began her musical journey at an early age and has since gained international recognition for her unique blend of folk, classical, and Sufi traditions.
The Théâtre de la Ville management noted that such performances strengthen intercultural ties and reaffirm that “music has no boundaries,” providing audiences with the opportunity to appreciate global artistic expressions.
