PCB suspends Multan Sultans over contractual violations

PSL franchise Multan Sultans suspended for violating agreement

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans for violating contractual terms, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to PCB sources, a formal suspension notice was issued to the franchise after the board completed all legal and procedural requirements. The notice also carries a warning of possible contract termination if compliance issues persist.

Sources revealed that the decision was primarily linked to franchise owner Ali Tareen’s repeated interviews in which he allegedly made remarks against the PCB and PSL management, causing reputational damage to the league.

“The PCB has taken this action after observing repeated violations and public statements that harmed the image of the PSL,” one official said, adding that further legal proceedings may follow.

The move has sparked debate within cricketing circles, with some calling for mediation to resolve disputes between the franchise and the board ahead of the next PSL season.
