Metro bus service resumes partially in twin cities

Published on: October 14, 2025 10:15 PM

After several days of disruption, the metro bus service connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been partially restored, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters who depend on it for affordable travel. Authorities confirmed that operations have resumed from Saddar Station to Kashmir Highway in the first phase, while service between Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station and Pak Secretariat remains temporarily suspended for maintenance and safety reasons.

Officials stated that the remaining section of the route will reopen once ongoing technical repairs and infrastructure checks are completed. They added that engineers are currently conducting safety inspections and system evaluations to ensure a smooth and secure reopening for passengers. The full restoration is expected to be announced soon after the completion of all operational tests and verifications.

Moreover, authorities highlighted that the maintenance work aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the metro system, which serves as a vital transport lifeline for the twin cities. The partial resumption is expected to ease congestion and improve travel convenience for office workers, students, and other regular commuters who faced difficulties during the suspension period.

In a related development, mobile internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have also been partially restored following a two-day suspension due to security concerns. Officials noted that connectivity has returned in most areas, although some localities continue to experience slow or unstable access. Users have welcomed the partial restoration but urged authorities to ensure full connectivity across all regions.

Meanwhile, the restoration of both metro and internet services is seen as a positive sign of normalcy returning to the twin cities after recent disruptions. Commuters have expressed hope that the second phase of metro operations will be launched soon, enabling full intercity travel and easing daily transport challenges faced by thousands of residents.
