Pakistan Army Captures 19 Afghan Posts After Cross-Border Attacks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army on Sunday carried out powerful retaliatory strikes after Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire at several border points, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, and Kurram.

According to security sources, the Afghan fire aimed to help militant groups cross into Pakistan. The Pakistan Army responded swiftly, destroying multiple Afghan military posts, including Duran Mela, Turkmanzai, and Shahidan camps, and capturing 19 positions along the border.

Officials confirmed that dozens of Afghan soldiers and militants were killed, while Taliban fighters abandoned their posts and bodies before fleeing. Pakistani troops were seen raising the national flag over one captured Afghan post in Angoor Adda.

The Army used tanks, artillery, and drones to target militant hideouts and command centres inside Afghanistan. Strikes reportedly hit Taliban and Daesh positions, including Kharcher Fort and Ghaznali headquarters in Nushki, which were used as launchpads for attacks inside Pakistan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the Afghan aggression, calling it a violation of international law, and warned that provocations will not be tolerated. Tribal elders also expressed full support for Pakistan’s armed forces.

Officials clarified that the strikes were not against the Afghan people but targeted militant networks allegedly backed by India.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have expressed concern over the escalating tensions, urging both countries to show restraint and resolve issues through dialogue.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan has provided evidence of terrorist activity from Afghan soil and urged Kabul to “seal the border” and prevent non-state actors from using its territory.
