Sindh government spokesperson, Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, has strongly responded to recent remarks by Punjab Government representative Azma Bukhari, calling them politically motivated and factually baseless. The Spokesperson Sindh Government stated that it is ironic for those who have consistently avoided holding local government elections and failed to provide tangible support to flood victims to now accuse others of escapism. He urged the Punjab Government to show genuine concern for its citizens by conducting local elections immediately, allowing grassroots issues to be addressed effectively.
Criticizing Punjab’s approach to flood relief, Mustafa Baloch said the Punjab Government is engaged in optics and photo opportunities rather than meaningful rehabilitation efforts, with tours of cities like Jhang, Jhelum, Faisalabad, and Murree serving as symbolic gestures rather than solutions. He further noted that Sindh’s appreciation of the Prime Minister’s efforts seems to irritate Punjab’s leadership unnecessarily.
Mustafa Baloch advised the Punjab leadership not to project its internal party conflicts onto the Sindh Government or the Pakistan People’s Party, and instead resolve their issues internally. He challenged Punjab Govt to present welfare projects comparable to those initiated by the Sindh Government, such as SICVD, SIUT, Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences, NICH, the EV Bus Service, the Pink Bus Service, and the Pink Scooty Program, emphasizing that Sindh’s focus has always been on delivering practical, inclusive and people-centric services rather than on cosmetic projects.
On the issue of disaster response, the Spokesperson Sindh Government remarked that Sindh was well prepared for the floods, having undertaken extensive and preemptive measures to mitigate the impact, while Punjab’s response to floods was largely limited to media statements-amounting to stepmotherly treatment of the flood victims. He noted that instead of criticizing Sindh, the Punjab Government should take this opportunity to learn from Sindh’s example of effective governance. Mustafa Baloch reaffirmed that the Pakistan People’s Party is a national political party with deep roots across the country and remains committed to national unity and inclusive governance. He concluded by stating that the Sindh Government is dedicated to progressive policies, innovation, and inclusive development that empower all citizens and build a sustainable future for the province.
