US to provide Ukraine intel for strikes on Russian energy targets

Published on: October 2, 2025 7:32 AM

The US Ukraine energy strike plan will give Kyiv intelligence to target Russia’s oil and power infrastructure. This is the first time Washington will directly assist in targeting energy facilities. Officials said it aims to reduce Kremlin war revenue and weaken Moscow’s military funding.

US President Donald Trump has urged European nations to halt Russian oil purchases. He seeks sanctions to further cut Moscow’s income while supporting Ukraine’s military actions. NATO allies are also being asked to provide similar intelligence assistance.

Ukraine may receive Tomahawk missiles, capable of striking Moscow and most of European Russia. The country has also developed the long-range Flamingo missile, though production numbers remain unknown. These weapons would enhance Kyiv’s ability to target key energy facilities.

The United States has already been sharing intelligence with Kyiv, but the new support will make hitting refineries, pipelines, and power plants easier. Officials said the move could shift momentum in Ukraine’s favor and further pressure Russia economically.

Energy remains central to Russia’s war financing, making it a top Western target. The US Ukraine energy strike support underscores Washington’s strategy to weaken Moscow while bolstering Kyiv’s long-range military capabilities.
