The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, said an inquiry is underway into the recent shooting in Tirah Valley. Speaking to the media at the Governor House in Peshawar, he urged the KP chief minister to also announce financial aid for victims in other areas. He criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for focusing on internal conflicts instead of fighting terrorism.
Governor Kundi said PTI should settle its internal issues before holding protests. He accused the KP chief minister of paying extortion money and claimed that the rest of the province suffers as a result. According to him, PTI has now lost public support and operates only in local streets.
He also recalled that an All Parties Conference (APC) was held recently, attended by all parties except PTI. He said governments should take action, not just hold meetings. He added that unity is needed within the government to combat terrorism effectively.
Earlier today, the KP government announced compensation for victims of the Tirah incident. Families of the deceased will receive Rs10 million, while injured individuals will get Rs2.5 million. CM Ali Amin Gandapur is personally overseeing the case and remains in contact with local officials.
Advisor to the CM, Barrister Dr. Saif, stated that a jirga of tribal elders will be held in Peshawar. The elders’ concerns will be heard and addressed. The KP government expressed sorrow over the tragedy and pledged full solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.
