In a successful joint operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies arrested a terrorist linked to the banned group Fitna al Khawarij. The arrest was made in Rawalpindi through an intelligence-based operation, according to a CTD spokesperson. The terrorist, identified as Musa, had been planning attacks on sensitive locations in the city.
The spokesperson revealed that Musa had already completed reconnaissance of key spots in Rawalpindi and had recorded videos of these sites. He later posted those videos on social media, increasing concerns about an upcoming attack. Authorities believe he was in the advanced stages of planning.
Moreover, the arrested individual had traveled to Afghanistan several times to receive terrorist training. He was also reportedly in direct contact with a senior commander of the Khawarij group. This connection further strengthened suspicions regarding his role in upcoming terror activities.
During the arrest, security forces recovered a large stockpile of arms and explosives from Musa’s possession. Items included hand grenades, bullets, a 7-foot safety fuse wire, three detonators, a remote control button, and a prima card. The recovery confirmed the severity of the threat.
The CTD has officially registered a case against the terrorist, and further investigations are currently underway. Officials aim to uncover more details about his network and future plans. They have also intensified security in high-risk areas of the city.
This operation highlights the growing coordination between intelligence agencies and CTD, which continues to prevent potential attacks and ensure public safety. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace.
