Actor Mariyam Nafees has shared heartfelt advice for new mothers, encouraging them to focus on healing rather than obsessing over calorie counts after childbirth. Appearing on a morning show with her husband, filmmaker Amaan Ahmed, she reflected on her pregnancy and early motherhood journey with honesty and humor.
Mariyam recalled that her mother advised her to treat pregnancy as a natural phase, not an illness. Following her gym trainer friend’s guidance, she stayed active with yoga and walking, maintaining a routine that included work and travel throughout her pregnancy.
The Neem actor praised her husband’s support, saying it made all the difference. Amaan attended every doctor’s appointment and managed household duties post-delivery, helping care for their newborn while juggling his work commitments. He even joked, “Dishwashing is therapeutic. Just play some music and let your mind wander.”
Mariyam also pushed back against the stigma of hiding baby bumps in public, saying, “It’s a very natural thing and something to be proud of.” The couple chose to keep the pregnancy private until they were in the “safe zone,” but she urged others not to feel shame about their bodies during this time.
Talking about her postpartum experience, Mariyam emphasized that food brought her joy. “Even after delivery, I didn’t stop eating,” she said with a smile. She credited her consistent meals and supplements for helping her avoid issues like hair loss, encouraging other moms to do the same.
She concluded by reminding mothers not to stress over weight. “Don’t worry about the weight. You have plenty of time. Breastfeeding helps, and you can tone up later,” she said, promoting a healthy and joyful approach to recovery.
