Vehicle owners get relief: 10% discount on token tax till august 30

Published on: July 10, 2025 7:26 PM

Lahore — In a relief move for vehicle owners, the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has announced a 10% discount on token tax payments for the current fiscal year. The department hopes this step will encourage early compliance and reduce tax default cases.

According to excise officials, the discount is valid only until August 30, 2025. Vehicle owners who settle their annual token tax dues before this deadline will be eligible for the rebate.

After August 30, the full amount of token tax will be charged without any concession. Officials also warned that late payments may result in fines or vehicle impounding during road checks.

To make it easier, the department has encouraged citizens to use online platforms and mobile apps to pay their dues quickly and avoid queues at offices. Digital payment methods are secure, fast, and available 24/7.

This offer is part of the government’s wider efforts to modernize tax collection, incentivize timely payments, and increase revenue without burdening the public.
