Aurangzeb pledges stronger business ties in meeting with Pakistan business council

Published on: July 9, 2025 5:32 PM

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has assured the business community of continued collaboration during a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Islamabad on Tuesday. He emphasized the government’s dedication to inclusive and consistent consultation with private sector stakeholders.

During the discussion, Aurangzeb stressed the importance of evidence-based policymaking to ensure that economic decisions reflect ground realities. He said engaging with business forums like the PBC helps shape practical and effective financial policies.

The finance minister informed the delegation that the Tax Policy Office has officially shifted from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to the Finance Division. This move, he explained, aims to institutionalize tax policymaking and improve transparency.

According to Aurangzeb, the relocation will strengthen long-term dialogue with private sector representatives and make tax policies more predictable and investment-friendly. He added that this shift also reflects global best practices.

Moreover, the PBC delegation welcomed the government’s willingness to work closely with industry leaders and appreciated the commitment to reforms. They discussed various challenges faced by the business community, including tax clarity and access to financing.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding that continued cooperation is key to building a stable economy. Both sides agreed to keep the conversation going to address concerns and unlock investment potential in Pakistan.
