PM Shehbaz meets Saudi, Qatari, and Chinese envoys to discuss middle east tensions

Published on: June 24, 2025 3:29 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held important meetings with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and China on Monday. The discussions focused on the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East, especially after recent developments involving Iran. The Prime Minister praised the constructive roles played by Qatar and Saudi Arabia in promoting peace in the region.

PM Shehbaz met with Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak and discussed Iran’s missile strikes carried out the previous night. He expressed solidarity with the Qatari people and appreciated Qatar’s efforts for regional peace. He also emphasized that Pakistan has always promoted dialogue and diplomacy over conflict.

In a separate meeting with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, the Prime Minister again expressed concern over the growing tensions in the region. He sent warm wishes to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Saudi people.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz. The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for the Chinese leadership and expressed hope for a successful Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with China for the successful completion of CPEC projects.

During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on regional security, particularly the recent developments in the Iran-Israel conflict. The Chinese envoy praised Pakistan’s active and positive diplomatic role on international forums, including the UN Security Council, in supporting peaceful solutions through negotiations.
