Field Marshal Munir is currently on an official visit to the United States. This visit holds strategic importance as it comes shortly after Trump’s diplomatic efforts helped broker a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. The ceasefire ended an 87-hour military conflict triggered by tensions over the Pahalgam incident in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides.
The conflict escalated with cross-border airstrikes and Pakistan’s “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” which reportedly downed six Indian jets. The ceasefire agreement, facilitated by the United States, has brought much-needed calm to the volatile region.
