Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged American-Pakistanis to play a more active role. Bilawal made these remarks while addressing a reception held at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The event was organized in honor of a nine-member visiting delegation from Pakistan. Influential members of the Pakistani-American community from across the U.S. attended the gathering. The discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations and promoting regional peace. The role of overseas Pakistanis as a bridge between the two countries was highlighted.
Bilawal stressed that Pakistanis abroad are vital for diplomacy and dialogue. He called on the community to take part in joint efforts for peace and progress. Commenting on recent tensions with India, he praised the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also appreciated the diplomatic missions for representing Pakistan’s stance on the global stage.
While referencing the Pulwama incident, Bilawal criticized India for blaming Pakistan without evidence. He said India’s approach is based on suspicion rather than facts. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s clear mission—to achieve peace through dialogue and diplomacy. He appealed to the international community to support this effort, stressing that lasting peace depends on inclusive dialogue.
Bilawal also spoke about the economic potential of regional cooperation. He said peaceful trade between India and Pakistan could benefit all neighboring countries. Climate Change Minister Musaddiq Malik also addressed the audience, warning of India’s regional ambitions. Pakistan’s ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh concluded the event by stressing the need for economic stability. The reception ended with a Q&A session, where Bilawal answered questions from the American-Pakistani audience.
