KARACHI: At least three persons were gunned down, while two others shot and injured in separate incidents in the metropolis on Wednesday. Nadir, 30, son of Sikandar, was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Tayyub Masjid in Bakra Peeri area of Malir. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.A man, Muhammad Hussain, 60, son of Meherban, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Korangi. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. In another incident of firing, a 25-year-old youth was gunned down by armed men near Power House in Surjani Town. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem. A man, Abdul Aziz, 40, son of Noor Muhammad, was shot and injured by armed men near Rexer Bridge in Muslim Colony. He was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. In another incident, Anees, 28, son of Darya Khan, was injured by firing of unidentified gunmen near Korangi Crossing. He was shifted to JPMC for treatment. Meanwhile, South Zone DIG Dr Jameel Ahmad has directed all SDPOs and SHOs of his zone to draw maps of entrance and exit points of their jurisdictions and deploy constables there so that no criminal could find it easy to escape after committing the crime.Dr Jameel Ahmad also directed to accelerate action against street criminals. He ordered to the all SDPOs and SHOs to compile a list of wanted criminals involved in terrorism, target killing, extortion, street crimes, robberies and other crimes and conduct targeted raids for arrest of these criminals. The South Zone DIG said he was analysing the efforts of the DSPs and SHOs. He asked them to send progress reports about crimes in their areas on a daily basis. On the other hand, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three criminals after two separate raids in the metropolis. The CTD arrested a suspect, Kamran Khan, near Habib Shoes in Saddar. One TT pistol was recovered from his possession. They said the arrested accused was wanted to Orangi and Pirabad police in murder cases. In another raid, Wajid Khan and Zahoor Khan were arrested near Siemens Chowrangi in SITE area. Two hand grenades and two pistols were seized from them.Also, the Sindh Rangers on Wednesday produced two suspects before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and informed it about their 90-day preventive detention for questioning.The personnel of Sindh Rangers along with their counsel produced Waleed Qamar and Tahir Rasool before the court amid tight security. According to the Rangers, the suspects were involved in target killing and other offenses within the ambit of Anti-Terrorism Act. The suspects were arrested from Sohrab Goth and Model Colony areas of Karachi, respectively. The court allowed the paramilitary force to detain the suspects for 90 days for interrogation, considering legal provisions under Section 11EEEE (1) of ATA. The paramilitary force has the authority to detain suspects for the period of three months for questioning under Section 11EEEE (1) of the ATA.The production of the suspects with relevant documents was made in compliance with Section 11EEEE (3) of the ATA for the information and record of the court.
