SIALKOT: Defence Minister Muhammad Asif said on Sunday that work on Sialkot-Lahore motorway would be undertaken in the near future to facilitate the people of Sialkot District. Talking to APP at Muslim League House, he said the proposed motorway project would help link remote areas with big cities and reduce the distance between Sialkot and Lahore. The mega project would not only ensure fast inter-city travel but also provide economic boom as well as create employment opportunities in the region, he said, adding that the government was making adequate efforts for improving the means of communication across the country with an aim to link backward areas of the country with developed ones. Earlier, while addressing the people in an open court, the defence minister said the PML-N government was making adequate efforts to resolve the people’s problems on priority basis. He further stated the government had focused its attention towards bringing economic stability and put the country on road to progress. At this juncture, economic stability had become vital for bringing prosperity and to boost development process in the country, he added. Asif listened to the complaints of the people and issued on-spot orders for their early redressal. Punjab Assembly members Khawaja Muhammad Manshaullah Butt, Chaudhry Muhammad Ikram and City President PML-N Woman Wing Nusret Jamshaid were also present on the occasion.
